erin donahoe-rankin (preferred capitalization) joined the College of Public Affairs
& Health Sciences in 2026. She came to UNT in 2018 as Director of Advising for the
College of Visual Arts and Design. During her 20+ years in higher education, she was
previously the Director of Students for the Utah State University-Tooele Regional
Campus and an Academic Advisor for Philosophy and Humanities, as well as many other
programs across the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Utah Valley University.
She also taught philosophy, anthropology, and communication courses as an adjunct
faculty member at UVU.
A member of NACADA-The Global Community for Academic Advising since 2007, she has
served in many roles. She has co-authored chapters in “Advising Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,
Transgender, and Queer College Students” (Eds. McGill & Joslin, 2021) and “Scholarly
Inquiry in Academic Advising, Second Edition” (Eds. McGill, Gizerian, & Hagen, 2022).
erin earned baccalaureate degrees in both Philosophy and Integrated Studies: History
and Religious Studies from Utah Valley University (as a "non-traditional" student)
and a Master’s degree in Academic Advising from Kansas State University (while a working
professional and parent). She is (slowly) working on a PhD in Philosophy at UNT.
She is supported by, and deeply grateful for, her family through all the above.
