“This new name helps further strengthen our national reputation as a leader in public affairs and our growth in health-related research and enrollment."   - Dean Dash

A new year brings a new name for the College of Public Affairs and Health Science, along with a clear vision for the future.

Beginning Friday, Jan. 9, the college will officially be known as the College of Public Affairs and Health Sciences, a change that reflects its expanding impact and the creation of two new schools announced last summer — the School of Public Affairs, led by Associate Dean Jody Sundt, and the School of Health Sciences, led by Associate Dean Jakob Vingren.

“This new name helps further strengthen our national reputation as a leader in public affairs and our growth in health-related research and enrollment,” said Dean Niki Dash. “It also strategically aligns our programs under our college’s areas of expertise and aligns well with the university’s strategic priorities.”

With a new name comes an opportunity for broader transformation that will help the college continue to adapt and evolve to advance student success, including:

  • Strengthening cross-department collaboration that encourages shared expertise, innovative thinking and new interdisciplinary projects.
  • Breaking down silos so ideas, data, resources and talent can flow more freely.
  • Elevating research opportunities and competitiveness as a unified, clearly defined college.
  • Increasing opportunities for funding and partnerships, supported by a cohesive identity and stronger external visibility.
  • Encouraging a more connected and empowered faculty community by working toward aligned goals and shared impact.

“This is more than just changing our collaterals, business cards and email signatures,” Dash said. “It’s changing how we work with each other, our students and our community. It’s an exciting opportunity for deeper collaboration, stronger connections and a united vision for what we can achieve together.”
