The Kinesiology B.S. program is dedicated to best practices within the field of human movement and wellness.More specifically, the Strength and Conditioning concentration (KINE-S&C) equips students with a strong foundation in human performance and prepares them for careers in strength and conditioning across athletic, tactical, corporate, and private settings.

Why Earn a Kinesiology Degree in Strength & Conditioning?

Kinesiology is the study of human movement and is a field that is experiencing tremendous growth.


The KINE-S&C concentration is a distinguished program for its curricula and classroom excellence, and is recognized by the NSCA as an official Education Recognition Program (ERP). It is intentionally designed to support students pursuing certifications, professional development, and industry connections.

In this program, students will learn from faculty members who are credentialed leaders and researchers who are recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Students will develop an expertise in program design, injury risk reduction, program monitoring, athletic development, and optimizing human physical capacity at all performance levels. Beyond the didactic instruction, upper-level courses integrate practical coaching labs, sports technology, and hands-on internship opportunities within performance environments.

  • KINE-S&C students have access to exclusive internship opportunities with local partners such as UNT Athletics, SMU Human Performance, EXOS, UNT Police Department, Army ROTC, and many more.
  • The KINE-S&C concentration prepares students for professional certifications such as the NSCA Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification, and offers exclusive student discounts on certification exams.
  • Although UNT's Kinesiology program yields approximately 220 annual graduates, there have not yet been any graduates from the Strength & Conditioning concentration, as of Fall 2026.

What are some courses you could take?

KINE 2010: Fundamentals of Strength and Conditioning

Practical aspects of development of muscular strength and endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, and flexibility including proper strength and conditoning exericse techniques, safety, and basic exercise programming.

KINE 4310: Advanced Strength and Conditioning I

Students acquire knowledge regarding implementing strength and conditioing programs, coaching different types of athletes, strength and conditioning program design, propoer resistance exercise techniques and evaluation of physical performance capabilities.

KINE 4315: Advanced Strength and Conditioing II

Design and implementation of advanced strength and conditioing programs, strength and conditioning periodization, propoer speed and agility exericse techniques, and long-term athletic development of various athletes, ages, and levels.

KINE 3030: Fundamentals of Sport Nutrition
This course will merge the basic principles, latest evidence-based knowledge, and scientific understanding of sports nutrition with real-world applications and examples.
KINE 4325: Fitness Testing

Practice of fitness assessment with an emphasis on practical application.
